New Orleans Falls Behind On Affordable Housing Goal

New Orleans is failing to meet its goal for affordable housing, according to a semiannual report from HousingNOLA.

The report claims the city will likely fall short of its goal for the number of affordable housing units needed, outlined by a ten-year plan introduced in 2015.

The group hoped to have around 2,500 affordable housing units by September of this year, but the final number will be close to only 750.

A statement issued by the city claims Mayor Cantrell has been a huge advocate in the push for more affordable housing and she will continue to fight for more accountability and transparency so the plans can progress.
