CSU Hurricane Forecast Gets Rolled Back

Hurricane Season Sign With Stormy Background

As coastal Louisiana knows, it only takes one to create a disastrous situation, but forecasting experts at Colorado State University are out with some good news about this year's hurricane season, with updated predictions for only nine named storms, three of them hurricanes, for the remaining four months of the season that officially ends November 30th.

An earlier prediction was for as many as 14 named storms this year.

The CSU forecasters say there is a 19% chance of a major storm hitting the Gulf Coast, a wide area that stretches from Florida to Texas.
