The outages occurred across Mid-City, Central City and around the Superdome Monday morning around 9 a.m.

Parts of Uptown, Mid-City, Central City and the CBD suddenly lost power after the cat got into the substation, somehow made it past "protective devices" that keep animals out and "came into contact" with the equipment said Entergy in a series of posts on social media.

When something like that happens, "the animals unfortunately do not survive contact with high-voltage equipment," Entergy added.

Power was fully restored around 11 a.m.
