Legislative Auditor Weighs In On Council Members' Credit Card Use

New Orleans City Council members may have broken state law through their alleged misuse of public funds associated with the use of government-issued credit cards.

That word came Monday from Louisiana Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera.

However, he says at this point, investigators with his office haven't been able to determine if LaToya Cantrell's credit card spending was improper since it was similar to card usage by other council members.

Before being elected mayor, Cantrell drew political heat for her card use while on council.
