Tropical Depression Expected To Be Michael Soon

Tropical Depression Fourteen was knocking on the door of tropical storm strength Sunday morning.

The depression is expected to become the next named storm, Michael, as it moves slowly northward.

"The depression is producing heavy rainfall and flash flooding over portions of Central America, and these rains will spread over western Cuba and the northeastern Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico during the next couple of days," said the National Hurricane Center Sunday.

The system is expected to hurricane strength before a possible landfall along the Alabama-Florida coastline on Wednesday.

It remains unclear if the storm will impact Louisiana, though the NHC warns of storm surge, rainfall and wind impacts along the Gulf Coast.
