A man and a teenager are facing charges for allegedly welcoming the New Year with nearly 200 rounds of gunfire rather than fireworks.

Kenner police say officers discovered 146 spent 12-gauge shotgun shells and 46 40-caliber shell casings in the backyard of a Bainbridge Street home yesterday morning.

Two males, ages 21 and 17, were arrested after trying to hide from police. Both were charged with misdemeanor illegal discharge of firearms.
