New Orleans public schools are partnering with community leaders to work on reducing the rate of absent students.
The initiative, called "Keeping Kids in School", looks to fight against statistics that show students who chronically miss school are more likely to drop out. Data shows chronic absenteeism is on the rise in recent years across the city, and the program hopes to address all the issues causing students to miss school.
School officials and community leaders hope that they can encourage better attendance by offering rewards.
