The Jefferson Parish Council is planning to repeal a 2018 vote allowing the Cornerstone Chemical Company to expand.
The council passed a resolution today citing intentions to revoke it's approval at a later meeting. Residents have expressed concerns about the plans, as the expansion would bring the addition of a cyanide plant.
Cornerstone said they've handled the chemical for decades, but understand the concern and would like to remain on good terms with the surrounding community.
