NFL Suspends Kareem Hunt For Eight Games

Kareem Hunt

The NFL announced that Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt will be suspended for eight games for breaking the league's personal conduct policy. Hunt will not appeal the suspension and issued a statement apologizing for his actions.

"I want to again apologize for my actions last year. I know that my behavior hurt a lot of people, and I again apologize to them. I respect the league's decision on discipline, and I appreciate the time I spent with Commissioner Goodell last week," Hunt said in the statement.

Hunt was indefinitely suspended last season following two violent altercations in 2018. In February, he was involved in a violent incident with a woman at a Cleveland hotel, in which he was seen kicking her across a hallway. In June, Hunt found himself in trouble again after getting into a fight with other men in the small village of Put-in-Bay, Ohio. He was not charged in either incident.

Hunt was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in November after surveillance camera footage from the February incident was released. They cited the video and the fact that he lied about what happened to team officials as reasons for his release.

He was later signed by the Browns, even though he was on the Commissioner's Exempt List and was facing a lengthy suspension from the NFL.
