A Jefferson Parish jail guard is under arrest for allegedly opening doors to several cells at the Correctional Center in Gretna and letting inmates fight.
Reports say 45-year-old Dylan Smith was booked with malfeasance in office for a March 31st brawl.
One of the inmates reported the incident to another officer, saying Smith let the inmates into a common area where they could fight and watched from his control booth. Two of the inmates involved in the fight suffered minor injuries.
Smith is due in court on May 20th.
