A bill to allow sports betting in the Pelican State is now headed to the Louisiana House of Representatives for consideration after it cleared the full Senate yesterday.

It's a measure, that even if signed into law, requires voters in each parish to decide if they want that form of gambling locally.

Similar legislation is already state law in Mississippi, with casinos raking in millions of additional dollars after its passage.

The Louisiana bill is expected to generate an estimated $50 million a year as the result of sports betting at the state's casinos and racetracks.
