The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is anticipating the Mississippi River to rise past the level that will trigger the re-opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway.

The river is continuing to rise because of flooding rain levels across the middle Mississippi River Valley.

Experts say the river will likely remain high throughout the month of May, and believe it will make it's third crest in 2019 on May 17th at 16.8t feet.

According to the corps, the spillway has never been opened twice in one year.
