Iconic New Orleans Writer And Storyteller Ronnie Virgets Passes Away

The community of New Orleans is mourning the passing of award-winning writer, voice artist, reporter, and storyteller Ronnie Virgets who passed away yesterday at age 77.

Virgets died last night at the Ormond Nursing Home in Destrehan according to his longtime companion Lynne Jensen.

Virgets was known for his distinct raspy speaking voice and his Third Ward accent which was heard in hundreds of commercials as well as a love of horse racing and his newspaper column on the sport.

Virgets is survived by Jensen, a son, two daughters, a brother, and seven grandchildren.
