Vaping Passenger Sets Off Smoke Alarm On Spirit Flight To New Orleans

US-TRANSPORT-BOEING

A passenger who vaped on a flight headed to New Orleans is being banned from flying Spirit Airlines for life.

On June 4th, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says a 30-year-old Florida man set off the plane's smoke alarm after deliberately ignoring a flight attendant's warning to stop smoking.

The flight attendant on the flight coming from Detroit said she saw the man take a drag from an electronic cigarette and exhale all the smoke into a bag. When the flight attendant told him to stop, he continued smoking in the plane's bathroom, triggering the alarm.

A passenger also reported that the man smuggled his own stash of alcohol onboard and seemed heavily intoxicated.

Despite all these offenses, the man was not arrested.
