NOPD Shows Decreased Crime As Juvenile Initiatives Begin

Data from the New Orleans Police Department shows a 17% decrease in crime over the last week.

Auto burglaries have been down by 24% since the end of May, and armed robberies dropped by 64%.

That change occurred during the same week when judges began personally deciding if an arrested juvenile would be released.

The city also began aggressively enforcing juvenile curfew, with 12 juveniles picked up for violations during the first week of June.

Experts say while a direct correlation may not exist, these programs could certainly help lower the amount of criminal activities in the city.
