A new suspect has been named in the 1978 murder of five-year-old Stephanie Herbert.

Jason Franklin of Massachusetts has been extradited to Louisiana.

The 74-year-old, who has been indicted in the rapes of three children 40 years ago, is now a suspect in the unsolved murder of Herbert.

As of Friday, Franklin hasn't been indicted in Herbert's death.

Franklin reportedly became a suspect in Herbert's death last spring after "additional information" was found in the case.

Herbert was kidnapped, raped and killed in June of 1978.

Her skeletal remains were found about six months after her disappearance in a marshy area in St. Charles Parish.
