Six Injured After SUV Crashes Into Abita Springs Gas Station

Six people were hurt after a 72-year-old driver crashed her Honda CR-V into a gas station at the corner of Highway 59 and Harrison Avenue in Abita Springs Monday morning.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says the Abita Springs woman crossed the Texaco parking lot and "entered" the store through the front glass, stopping "several feet inside the the business", according to a press release.

The driver and five others were treated for minor injuries at nearby hospitals. The sixth was airlifted to another hospital with what was described as non-life threatening injuries.

Photos from the Sheriff's Office showed extensive damage to the store.

The driver was cited for negligent injuring.
