Officials say a suspect exchanged gunfire with Gretna Police last night during a foot pursuit near Westbank Expressway.
According to reports, the suspect fired as many as 17 rounds at officers before dropping to the ground when officers returned fire.
The suspect was identified as Herman Franklin and was found with marijuana and a Glock pistol with an extended magazine.
No one was hurt in the shootout, and Franklin is now facing multiple charges including the attempted murder of a police officer.
