Two New Orleans Safety And Permit Workers Placed On Suspension

Two employees with the New Orleans Department of Safety and Permits are on immediate emergency suspension amid a probe into bribes at the agency.

NODSP spokesman Beau Tidwell confirmed the suspensions yesterday but declined to identify the workers involved.

The suspensions come in the wake of an indictment last month of building inspector Kevin Richardson who federal prosecutors say took money to give passing grades to properties that didn't comply with building codes.

Richardson has pled not guilty to the charges, and his trial is set to begin in November.
