Route Dispute Could Lead To Mardi Paws Not Rolling In 2020

A popular Northshore parade is in danger of not rolling next year unless organizers and the city can agree on a route.

The organizers of Mardi Paws said yesterday they want to end the parade at its usual spot on Girod Street, but the city has other ideas.

Mandeville Mayor Donald Villere wants to extend the route to Lafitte Street as a way to include more businesses, but Mardi Paws founder Denise Gutnisky said that is not possible.

Unless a compromise is reached, Mardi Paws says it will not participate in 2020.
