The state of Louisiana is having more and more children adopted from foster care.

According to the state's social services agency, 893 children in foster care were adopted into 661 families over the last year.

The Department of Children and Family Services says of those families, 27% adopted more than one child, with 164 of those families adopting siblings.

The high adoption rates are the second-highest number of adoptions from foster care in a single year in state history, falling just below last year's record of 912.
