Cost of Living Adjustments in 2020 Impacting Benefits

Some Louisiana residents will see a decrease in SNAP benefits as a result of a cost-of-living adjustment in the new year.

State officials say both the food stamp benefits as well as the Family Independence Temporary Assistance programs will be slightly decreased by the 2020 COLA.

The adjustment will reportedly increase benefits for several other programs including Social Security Retirement and VA benefits.

Nearly 95,000 Louisiana households are expected to see about $9 less a month in SNAP benefits effective in January thanks to the adjustment.
