Sewerage and Water Board officials say they will not shut off customers' water during the state of emergency brought on by the coronavirus.

City officials said yesterday that they would also restore water service to customers who had been previously disconnected so residents have the ability to wash their hands.

For weeks the Centers for Disease Control has said good hygiene, especially washing hands with soap and hot water is the first line of defense against the virus.

The CDC recommends washing your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds and using hand sanitizer when soap is unavailable.
