The state of Louisiana needs students and retired medical professionals to volunteer to help fight the coronavirus.

That's according to Governor Edwards, who said that the existing group of healthcare workers are being stretched thin.

Apart from a lack of ventilators and protective equipment, there is also a desperate need for those who are able to treat the sick during the pandemic.

The governor is imploring cities to accelerate credentials and licenses for new residents similar to LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport.

More information on volunteering can be found online.
