The New Orleans Police Department says its officers will begin wearing their tactical duty uniforms this weekend.
Officials announced the change yesterday to alert the public since tactical duty uniforms are usually only worn during hurricanes and other heightened response events.
The NOPD says the move is happening to allow officers to be able to wash their uniforms at home instead of finding a dry cleaner, and there will be no change in day-to-day policing procedures.
Officers are expected to begin wearing the tactical outfits on Sunday.
