Couple Names Their Newborn Twins 'Corona' and 'Covid'

A couple has named their newborn twins Covid and Corona.

According to TMZ, proud parents Preeti Verma and Vimay Verma have decided to name their twins after the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Apparently, the couple decided to give their boy (Covid) and a girl (Corona) these unique names “to spread happiness, not fear” considering everything that’s transpired during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The celebrity gossip outlet indicates the pair welcomed the twins on March 27 at the Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur, India. After experiencing a difficult delivery, Preeti explained she and her husband wanted to make the beautiful moment a “memorable” one, hence the interesting set of names. Despite the reactions others have had to the names, the couple has no intent on changing their minds.

It goes without saying that positive stories like these are what the world needs as COVID-19 continues to expand. To date, the wide-spreading virus has infected more than a million people across the planet and has led to 61,600 deaths as of Saturday morning (April 4).

In its wake, a multitude of famous figures have contracted the disease including Pink, Sara Bareilles, and Andy Cohen. Sadly, other celebrities have died from the virus such as jazz patriarch Ellis Marsaliscountry legend Joe Diffie, and Fountains of Wayne singer Adam Schlesinger.
