Officials with the Archdiocese of New Orleans are planning to allow all Catholic churches to open the public starting this weekend.

The archdiocese said they going to follow health and safety guidelines set by Governor John Bel Edwards as the state begins its initial phase of reopening on Friday.

Some churches had already begun holding services for 10 or fewer people, while others experimented with holding Mass outdoors.

Moving forward, churches will be allowed to open to 25% capacity, according to the Phase One guidelines announced by Edwards.
