New Orleans native Ellen DeGeneres is giving back to her home state with graduation gifts for eight high school seniors from Slidell.

In a video post yesterday on DeGeneres' EllenTube channel, eight students who work together at the Slidell Winn-Dixie and two store managers were surprised by the talk show host with gifts.

The store managers had set-up a special graduation ceremony for the students in the store's stock room, which caught the attention of the comedian.

DeGeneres, who grew up in Metairie and graduated from the University of New Orleans, gave each senior a special diploma containing a gift worth $10,000.
