The New Orleans City Council is approving the use of parking spaces outside of restaurants for seating and dining.

A measure introduced by Councilwoman Kristen Palmer was approved by the council yesterday to allow the creation of parklets that are common in other cities like Los Angeles and Chicago.

Parklets are the practice of taking a parking spot in front of a business to expand seating options and could be a solution for places struggling to adapt to social distancing.

The proposal will now head to the administration to be reviewed.
