LDH Update: COVID-19 Cases Rise By Over 1,000 Tuesday

The number of reported COVID-19 cases in Louisiana increased by over 1,000 Tuesday in the latest update from the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of reported cases stood at 58,095, an increase of 1,014 from Monday. 90% of the latest cases are being blamed on community spread.

Hospitalizations increased by 50 to 781, with 83 patients now on ventilators, an increase of 4 from the previous day.

3,113 deaths are blamed on the coronavirus in Louisiana, an increase of 22 over the last 24 hours.

State officials are urging residents to mask up and follow social distancing guidelines. In New Orleans and Jefferson Parish, masks are being made mandatory to enter businesses.
