Louisiana's COVID-19 Case Count Pushes Past 100,000

The number of reported COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in Louisiana is now over 100,000 as of Thursday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

LDH put the count at 101,650 after the addition of 2,408 cases.

The collection dates of most of the new cases fell within between July 16 and July 23. 91% are from community spread and 33% involve those aged 29 and younger.

Hospitalizations increased by four to 1,585 with 197 patients on ventilators, up nine from Wednesday. The death count rose by 16 to 3,574.

State heath officials recently updated the number of residents presumed recovered from the coronavirus to 61,456.
