The Archdiocese of New Orleans is removing a Metairie deacon from ministry.
On Monday, the archdiocese announced the removal of Deacon V.M. Wheeler after being accused of abuse dating back two decades.
The archdiocese released a statement saying that the formal allegation of abuse was reported within the last week and that the matter has been referred to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Anyone with any further information or who needs to report an allegation should contact the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
