Hospitalizations, Patients On Vents Fall In LDH's Wednesday COVID-19 Update

The number of patients hospitalized from COVID-19 dipped again Wednesday, as well as those requiring ventilators.

The Louisiana Department of Health reported 1,471 being treated for the coronavirus with 223 of that number on ventilators, a drop of 16 and 17 respectively from Tuesday's update.

LDH reported an additional 1,490 cases, bring the running tally to 125,943 after the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases.

The department said most of the latest cases were collected between July 29 and August 5, with 93% of the cases coming from community spread. 29% involved those aged 29 and under.

The death count from COVID-19 in Louisiana was 3,978 after an additional 41 deaths were reported.

The number of presumed recovered across the state from the coronavirus increased to 89,083 as of Monday.
