Louisiana Residents Must Prove They Are Job Hunting To Get Unemployment

Gov. John Bel Edwards is requiring unemployed workers to apply for jobs in order to receive benefits.

Workforce Commission spokesman A.J. Sabine said the idea is to encourage people to look for work to become financially independent once again.

The governor's decision comes days after more than $450,000 unemployed residents lost the additional $600 provided by the federal government.
