The number of patients hospitalized due to COVID-19, as well as those on ventilators, continued to fall in the latest update from the Louisiana Department of Health Friday.
Hospitalizations fell by 51 to 1,406 statewide with 207 patients on ventilators, a decrease of 8 from Thursday.
The total number of reported cases stood at 128,746 after the addition of 1,601 cases and the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out-of-state cases.
LDH said most of the new cases were collected between July 31 and August 7, with 90% coming from community spread and 30% involved those aged 29 and younger.
The total number of deaths blamed on COVID-19 was 4,089 as of Friday, an increase of 61.
