The Louisiana Department of Health reported an additional 717 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the total to 144,116 after the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases.
LDH said over half of the latest cases were collected between August 18 and August 25 with the remainder coming from between August 1 and August 17.
State health officials added that 85% of the cases reported Tuesday were from community spread and those 29 and under represent 31% of the cases.
The number of those hospitalized with the coronavirus in Louisiana fell by 9 to 930 with 141 patients on ventilators, down 11 from Monday.
The death count rose by 33 to 4,656.
