Nearly 128,000 Presumed Recovered From COVID-19 In Louisiana

The Louisiana Department of Health said Wednesday there are 127,918 presumed recovered from COVID-19 statewide as of last Monday.

LDH reported an additional 846 coronavirus cases off of 14,105 tests Wednesday, bringing the total to 144,960 following the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out of state cases.

Most of the newest cases were collected between August 19 and August 26. 89% were from community spread. 30% involved those aged 29 and younger.

The number of hospitalizations continued to fall, down 16 to 914. Those on ventilators rose slightly by 7 to 148.

The death count increased by 32 to 4,688.

Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Wednesday the state would remain in Phase 2 of reopening for two more weeks due to disruptions in testing from Hurricane Laura. The current order is set to expire this Friday.
