Louisiana Reports 723 New COVID-19 Cases, 23 Additional Deaths

The Louisiana Department of Health reported 723 new cases of COVID-19 with 23 new deaths Thursday.

That brought the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 145,637 after the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out of state cases.

Most of the newly discovered cases were collected between August 20 and August 27. 72% are blamed on community spread and 27% involved those 29 and younger.

The death toll stood at 4,711.

The number of patients hospitalized fell by 38 to 876, with 145 on ventilators, down three from Wednesday.
