Hospitalizations From COVID-19 In La. Rise Slightly In Friday's Update

After days of showing steady decline, the number of those hospitalized in Louisiana due to COVID-19 was 900 Friday, an increase of 24 from Thursday.

The number of patients on ventilators was down by 4 to 141 in Friday's update from the Louisiana Department of Health.

The total number of coronavirus cases reported since the pandemic began was 146,243 after the addition of 627 new cases and the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out of state cases.

LDH said the collection dates for the new cases fell between August 21 and August 28. 96% of the cases were community spread and 31% involved those aged 29 and under.

The death count was 4,741 after 30 additional deaths were reported.
