Death Penalty Sought For Man Accused Of Killing Mandeville Police Captain

St. Tammany Parish prosecutors are planning to seek the death penalty for the man accused of killing Mandeville Police Capt. Vincent Liberto.

Officials say 22-year-old Mark Spicer is accused of murdering Liberto and injuring another officer on the night of September 19, 2019.

Spicer's charges include first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

This will be the first time in 11 years that a death penalty case is tried in the 22nd Judicial District.
