Sources say former Louisiana Governor Murphy James Foster has entered hospice care as he battles a non-COVID-19 sickness.

According to information released yesterday, the 90-year-old Foster is suffering from ailments connected with old age, and Gov. John Bel Edwards sent out a message on Twitter asking for prayers at this difficult time.

Foster served in the Army during the Korean War and was a Louisiana Senator for the 21st District before becoming governor of the state from 1996 to 2004.

Foster is known for jump-starting the career of future governor Bobby Jindal and brokering the deal to bring the NBA back to New Orleans.
