Southern University and Grambling State are set to play the 47th Annual Bayou Classic football game next year in Shreveport.

Officials at both schools confirmed yesterday the game would be played on April 17, 2021, at Independence Stadium due to COVID-19 pandemic and renovations at the Superdome.

Southern and Grambling are historic Black College programs and have combined for 26 Black College Football National Titles.

The two teams began playing each other in 1932, and in 1974 began calling the series the Bayou Classic as a rivalry game traditionally held the final Saturday in November.
