The I-12 widening project in St. Tammany Parish is moving into Phase Two after a ceremonial groundbreaking yesterday.
Governor John Bel Edwards was among those who attended the event ahead of Phase Two of the project, which is expected to begin widening I-12 from U.S. 190 to LA 21 in the coming weeks.
Phase One started last May, widening around three-miles of I-12 from LA 59 to U.S. 190 with concrete median protection and more room on bridges over Ponchatoula Creek.
Edwards called the project a long-overdue improvement to the infrastructure of southeast Louisiana's roadways.
