Orleans Parish Health Officials say several mosquito pools and traps have tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

According to yesterday's reports, the traps were located on the Eastbank by the New Orleans Mosquito, Termite, and Rodent Control Department.

No human cases of the virus have been reported this year, and crews are already spraying in Venetian Isles, Village de L'Est, and areas near the Jefferson Parish Line, Lakeshore Drive, France Road, and I-610.

The West Nile Virus is spread to humans by mosquito bites and can cause West Nile Fever with symptoms including headache, vomiting, seizures, and a rash.
