Tropical Storm Eta Forms In Caribbean

Another tropical storm has formed in the Caribbean Sea.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Eta is moving west toward Central America.

Eta is the 28th named storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, tying the record set in 2005 for the most named storms in a season.

Forecasters say it could be a hurricane by Monday.

The NHC notes there is uncertainty on whether Eta will dissipate inland or if the storm or its remnants reemerge over water.

"There is increased uncertainty in the track forecast post-landfall, with a range of plausible outcomes. While much of the guidance suggests Eta will spin down and weaken over Central America or possibly cross into the eastern Pacific, some model solutions indicate the potential for Eta or its remnants to re-emerge over the northwestern Caribbean Sea at or beyond day 5," wrote a forecaster Sunday.
