The Louisiana Department of Health says more vaccine doses are on the way.

On Sunday, health officials announced that 79,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine will make its way to the state this week.

According to reports, almost 36,000 of those doses will go to nursing home/long-term care facility residents and staff through the state's federal partnership program. Additionally, another 43,000 doses will be shipped to hospitals and first responders.

The state also anticipates receiving over 28,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which will go to Tier 1 hospitals.

Officials say groups of essential workers, such as construction and food service workers, would be eligible for the next wave.
