New Orleans Couple Creates 'Jeopardy!' Themed House Float For Mardi Gras

By this time in any normal year, New Orleans would be in the middle of Carnival, with parties, parades, and floats decorating the streets. In 2021, however, this season looks different. Traditional parades and ceremonies have been canceled or turned virtual, but that doesn't mean the party has to stop.

In lieu of parade floats, many people around the city are transforming their homes into their very own floats. One Irish Channel couple is celebrating the season by turning their home into a Jeopardy!-themed house float.

Erin and Aaron Whitley transformed their shotgun house into its very own Jeopardy game, complete with interactive questions and answers. With New Orleans-inspired categories like "In the Channel," "Quarantini," Walk it Out," and "Street Smart," anyone walking by can have their shot to play the iconic trivia game. Players can scan a QR code to access the game, but be warned — there's no prize, just "bragging rights" of defeating your friends.

According to The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, the Whitleys chose their theme to pay tribute to Alex Trebek, the longtime host of the iconic trivia games show. Trebek, who died last year after a battle with pancreatic cancer, hosted the beloved show for 37 years.
