Gov. John Bel Edwards is proposing a new office within his administration to help fight human trafficking and a raise in the minimum wage.
Edwards delivered the state of the state speech to a crowd last night at A.W. Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern University. The annual speech is usually held inside the state House Chamber but was moved to an outdoor venue for COVID-19 safety.
Edwards also spoke about initiatives to get more residents vaccinated, hurricane response efforts, and equal pay for men and women.
