Individual parishes across the state are now allowed to decide if they want to keep mask mandates for their residents.
On Tuesday, Gov. John Bel Edwards lifted the statewide mask mandate for areas except K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public transportation, health care facilities, and state government buildings.
Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, and St. John the Baptist have already said they will follow the state's new guidance.
New Orleans official Beau Tidwell said they would announce their updated COVID-19 restrictions later this week.
