Employers in Louisiana are no longer allowed to discriminate against a potential employee due to their hairstyle.

On Tuesday, state Senate officials passed SB 61 which would prohibit discrimination based on a worker's race, religion, sex or national origin including hair texture and natural hairstyles.

The bill now heads to the House, and if passed, it would take effect August 1.
